making multiplicity

“making multiplicity. conceptual songs” is an experiment traversing contemporary philosophy, conceptual art and music. It is based on the 17 chapters of Gerald Raunig's book Making Multiplicity, published by Polity Press in 2024 (German version: Siebzehn Lieder auf die Mannigfaltigkeit, transversal texts 2026). Written as philosophical condensations, transformed into poetry, pre-performed on dissimilar stages, the project proliferated both performatively and compositionally, resulting in 17 “conceptual songs” based on the book’s chapters. These songs, featuring vocals and the magical Rhodes piano, were recorded and produced as a double album on vinyl.

It will be presented November 11, 2026 with the Wednesday Night Prayer Orchestra at Porgy&Bess, Vienna.

As a next stage of the project, the conceptual songs are here dissembled and assembled once more, as another multiplicity being made, with the help of 17 re- and demixers. Their versions, reinterpretations, deconstructions, insertions, saturations, reverberations and machinations are being released every Wednesday from September 9 to December 30, 2026.
